MMS to host first chess tournament

The MMS Chess Club is excited to announce the inaugural Mountaineer Montessori Scholastic Chess Tournament, to be held Saturday, November 14, in the Staunton Avenue gym (complete announcement below).

The competition is open to any West Virginia student through eighth grade.

MMS has a very proud chess tradition and event will take it to a new whole level!

"I am hoping for this event to bring our players together with other local teams so that we can meet, learn from new friends, and create a welcoming environment where all can enjoy some friendly chess competition," said Danielle Eisenhauer, MMS Chess Coach and Tournament Director.

"My sincere hope is that this becomes an annual event that continues to grow in size and scope, bringing chess into our fall competition season."

Congratulations, Danielle and all involved in the wonderful MMS Chess Program!
