History in the making: Inaugural Special Needs Track Event hosted by Maiden Choice School
The students trained for weeks, becoming faster and surer of themselves at every practice. And then it was time. On a beautiful 70-degree day, they lined up to start. When the whistle blew, they raced forward, the cheers of more than 80 family members and friends growing louder. To the side, they saw signs bearing their names, and ahead of them, the finish line tape.
This was the experience for participants in the inaugural Special Needs Track Event, hosted by Maiden Choice School on Saturday, November 12, at Catonsville High School. With this event, Maiden Choice became the first BCPS school for students with special needs to ever host a track and field event.
A new blog post delves into the story.

Susan Ellerbee, multimedia magnet teacher, Randallstown High School
The work of Susan Ellerbee, who leads Randallstown High School’s Multimedia Communications Magnet Program Pathway B, is enriched by her 25 years of experience as a producer and director at local television stations.
She didn’t initially set out to be a teacher or television producer, but her story clearly reflects her belief that “everything happens for a reason.”
Under Ellerbee's leadership, the school's magazines have won two prestigious national awards, and its television station has broadened its focus to also cover community developments and a presidential inauguration.
The award-winning educator might be known best at Randallstown High as the force behind its popular "Journey Through Time" Black History Month project.
A new blog post explores her journey.

A Word from Dr. Williams, Superintendent
November 21, 2022
Dear Team BCPS,
This Thursday, many of us will gather with family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving.
I appreciate that this holiday focuses our attention on relationships. This year, our school system, too, is focused on relationships: between teachers and students, schools and parents, and the school system and community partners.
As we have engaged in this work, I have been continually inspired by the power of partnership as we continue to rebuild, recover, and heal. I hope you take a moment to appreciate the great interpersonal support and encouragement we offer one another. Together we are stronger, and by coming together, we are building a more effective school system.
I thank you for being a part of Team BCPS, and I wish you a restful and refreshing Thanksgiving weekend.
Sincerely,
Darryl L. Williams, Ed.D.
Superintendent
