At the beginning of 2020, we enjoyed a great opening with the CPH premiere of Matilda the Musical! We entertained full houses with a 20-person cast and 8-piece orchestra and were able to bring joy to hundreds of audience members. Also, in keeping with our community values, we partnered with Traveling Stories, a local non-profit organization to bring attention to their efforts to break the cycle of poverty for thousands of kids by teaching and encouraging them to read. Through the run of Matilda, we raised $1,000.
As we were getting ready to open our second show of the season, Moon Over Buffalo, CPH was untimely shut down due to the pandemic. Since then, we have had to cancel the rest of our season, which included five mainstage shows and three cabarets. Our hearts were broken, but we rallied on knowing that this would be a temporary “intermission” for our stage.
This coming season, Coronado Playhouse will be celebrating our 75th year in 2021. We are excited to continue the wonderful traditions and quality performances that CPH is famous for, but now, more than ever, we can’t operate without your help. Coronado Playhouse is a community-based non-profit which means we rely on donations from people like you for our day-to-day operations while maintaining the high-quality level of production and performance of each of ours that you have come to expect from the Playhouse.
As you consider your end-of-year giving we hope you think of Coronado Playhouse and the experience of theater we provide to you and to the community of San Diego. Large or small, your gift has a huge impact on the Playhouse and our community.
