Kids Who Need a Little Help to Make Friends
Social skills don’t come naturally to all kids, especially those with ADHD. Impulsive and hyperactive children often act in ways that make it hard to have friends. They can have trouble taking turns and controlling their anger when they don’t get their way. Inattentive kids may act flighty or not know how to join in. Ugh…My Kid’s Been Suspended! Now What? - The discipline rules under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are complex and can be hard to understand. In this session, Darla will help you understand these processes along with you and your child’s rights if you find yourself in this situation. Strategies to prevent suspension and expulsion will also be shared.

Parents and professionals will walk away understanding parent rights and with ideas, strategies, and resources for using person-centered planning, self-determination, and supported decision-making to help youth transition successfully.
