Healing Trauma, Together

Handled With Care: One Year In
Handle With Care is a program that empowers law enforcement officers across the Lehigh Valley to send a brief notice to a child’s school when that child has been identified at the scene of a traumatic event.

By the end of the 2020-21 school year, Handle With Care received 226 referrals. Within the first quarter of the 2021-22 school year we saw 173 referrals, and the program was on track to hit 700 referrals total by end of the year.
Understanding Secondary Trauma
Rising emotional and mental health needs in both youth and adults, increased exposure to adverse childhood experiences, and heightened vicarious trauma in professionals are common pandemic side effects.

During Resilient LV's upcoming FREE training session, we're discussing secondary, vicarious trauma, and self-care practices. Join us on January 19th and help support the resiliency and emotional wellness of our helping professionals, who in turn foster safety and healing in our most vulnerable youth and adult populations. Attendees will receive CEU credit for training participation.
Empowering Schools to Become Trauma Informed
The Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 (CLIU21) is offering five free, innovative professional development modules about trauma-informed practices for educators. Each online, self-paced module includes a video, activities, and a workbook for educators to stay up-to-date on the latest trauma-informed research.

Topics covered include types and causes of trauma, trauma’s impact on the brain and development, the body’s stress response system, educator and student wellness, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed classroom practices.
Resilient Lehigh Valley offers professional development training on trauma-informed care, trauma awareness, cultural competence, and racial trauma.
