MAY 18, 2025

JFS was honored to be part of Harmony for Hope at Round Hill Community Church, an inspiring evening dedicated to community and compassion. The event proceeds will support JFS immigration programs serving vulnerable individuals and families across Fairfield County.

Round Hill has been an integral community partner since the inception of JFS resettlement services, and have been instrumental in helping the immigrant community build new lives in Connecticut. We are grateful for their continued generosity and commitment.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to reflect on the importance of emotional well-being and the need to reduce stigma around mental health care. At JFS, we’re proud to offer accessible, compassionate mental health services to individuals and families throughout our community. This week, we are spotlighting Erin Tishman, Clinical Director at JFS, whose leadership and deep commitment to trauma-informed care help guide our agency’s behavioral health work. We spoke with Erin about her path to the field, her hopes for the future of mental health care, and why reaching out for support is an act of strength.

JFS CEO Rachel Kornfeld and Beth Jabick, Director of Volunteer Services, attended the SilverSource Inspiring Lives Luncheon, featuring renowned author and screenwriter Delia Ephron. SilverSource is a valued JFS community partner as we strive to amplify resources and impact for our shared older adult clients. The best collaborations ensure clients have barrier-free access to a range of services to improve their quality of life. The JFS team is grateful to SilverSource for their commitment to serving vulnerable older adults.

We are looking for compassionate, committed volunteers to support JFS programs and help strengthen our community. Whether you have a few hours a week or a few hours a month, your time can make a real impact!

Some volunteer opportunities include:

  • Supermarket shopping for older adults
  • Supporting refugee families
  • Assisting in our food pantry
  • Helping at special events

If you are interested in getting involved, email Beth Jabick, Director of Volunteer Services.
