Dear Superintendents and School Leaders,

Following up on my earlier email regarding Tony Thurmond’s comments, I wanted to let you know the SDCOE Communications team has updated the template letter in English and Spanish clarifying that local schools are closed indefinitely. You can access the letter here.

It is unclear at this point if/when we will receive official guidance from the state regarding closing through the end of the school year. As I’ve said, we’re doing everything we can to try to secure advance notice. In the meantime, I encourage you to continue to use our talking points:
  • We are monitoring all the guidance carefully.
  • In San Diego County, there is no definitive date for when schools will reopen.
  • All decisions about reopening will be made in conjunction with state and local public health officials.
  • While we are uncertain how long this closure will last, we are putting plans in place that will provide students with resources they need.

If you have any questions about these materials, please contact SDCOE Chief of Staff Music Watson at 619-818-6507 or via email .

Sincerely,
Paul
