IMS Presents: Haphazardly

The mean Princess Cinnamon (Kinsley Seitz, 6th grade), the not-so-bright Princess Peppermint (Maddy Percaciante, 8th grade), the vain Prince Hairgel (Freddy Averre, 7th grade), and the aptly named Prince Slacker (Liam Polter, 7th grade) are obnoxious, bratty adult children who do not live up to their royal titles — and they still live at home! King Barnabas (Alexander Jaworske, 8th grade) and Queen Mildred (Emilia Mikolic, 8th grade) try everything to help their children grow up and move out, but nothing seems to work. After hiring a therapist, bringing in teachers, and even trying to marry off their children, the king and queen are ready for a happily-ever-after that doesn’t involve their children living at home. They call upon a fairy godmother to help quiet the castle. But who knew hiring a fairy godmother came at such a ridiculous price? And the permits required are outrageous! The King and Queen decide to create a do-it-yourself fairy tale... and chaos abounds! Nothing goes as planned and musical, comical, royal chaos ensues. But despite the King and Queen’s DIY failure, the princes and princesses just might have been changed for the better.

The performances are on Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23, 7 p.m. in the middle school auditorium. Tickets are $8 at the door.

Seventy awesome IMS students make up this cast! Directed and Music Directed by Gretchen Obrovac, Choreographed by Rebecca Justice. A huge shoutout to the dozens of amazing parent volunteers.

Sixth-Grade Science Students Build Bone Bridges

What can you do with QTips, pipe cleaners, and popsicle sticks? Well, build a "Bone Bridge" of course! Oh, and have it hold pumpkins, candy ones, naturally! The 6th-grade students in Miss Mac's science class happily accepted the challenge to build "Bone Bridges". The "Top Pumpkin" holding bridge held 52 pumpkins and was built by Ryleigh Thompson and Victoria White. Second place "Top Pumpkin" held 28 pumpkins and was built by Arie Aiello and Mia Noggle. The third place "Top Pumpkin" holding 17 pumpkins, was built by Rae Guinto and Lauren Sahli. Teamwork, using trial and error strategies, and most importantly having fun, being motivated and engaged in the activity were comments made in the student self-reflection exit ticket after the completion of the activity.

8th Grade American Revolution Learning Experience

8th grade students had the exciting opportunity to step back in time and experience the American Revolution in a unique and interactive way. Mr. Mike McNamara presented a variety of replicated artifacts from the Revolutionary War era. Artifacts included clothing, cooking utensils, games, weapons, flags, and more. His engaging presentation brought history to life, offering students a deeper understanding of the everyday lives of people during this time period in American history.

The hands-on experience of examining these artifacts allowed students to connect with history in a tangible way, enhancing their understanding of life during the American Revolution. By engaging with these items, students not only learned about the past but also developed a greater appreciation of those who lived through this time in American history.

A special thank you to Mr. McNamara for sharing his knowledge and collection of artifacts with our students!
