Bike Safety Week

This week, Officer Collise came in and presented the laws and safety surrounding bike safety to all of our IMS students. Each grade spent an advisory period to meet with and understand the laws and safety surrounding bike usage. We are so thankful for Officer Collise and our partnership with IPD! Listed below is the presentation that was provided for the students.

Eighth-Grade Washington D.C. Trip

A huge thank you to all of our amazing students and staff who traveled this past week to see some of our nation's key landmarks, sites, and museums. Many commented on how well-behaved our groups and students were. A special thank you to Mrs. Vecchio for ensuring the trip was a success and a high point for our students.

Fifth and Sixth Grade Inspiring Assembly

Fifth and sixth graders enjoyed hearing from published author Rebecca Barone! She shared her journey and the inspirations behind her writing for preteen readers. Her stories of perseverance and creativity sparked excitement and motivation in our students. We can’t wait to see how her words inspire the next generation of young writers!

Jr Biology Society Land Lab Visit

Aspiring scientists in the Independence Junior Biology Society attended a fall hike at the Land Lab. Students took time to observe the ways the woodland organisms prepare for winter, as well as spent individual time exploring.

8th Grade Science

In Science class, students modeled the interactions and resulting geographic features that occur at convergent, divergent, and transform boundaries and ended with a yummy treat!

6th Grade Volleyball Spotlight

This past weekend, a team of 6th graders from IMS playing on a CYO volleyball team for St. Michael‘s were the runners-up in their bracket at the 6th grade level CYO Volleyball playoff tournament. The team was comprised entirely of IMS students. They were the only team of any age group from St. Michael’s to make it this far in the playoffs (to our knowledge). They had a great final game, playing to the maximum of three close sets.

Congrats Team!!!
