IMS Spirit Week

Next week, IMS will accept donations in the auditorium before school. All proceeds collected will 100% benefit Cornerstone of Hope.

The grade that raises the most funds will receive breakfast before school. In appreciation and to create excitement, each day will have a different themed spirit day.

Independence Middle School Launches Innovative Career Program With Cleveland Clinic

This January, Independence Middle School kicked off an exciting new pilot program in partnership with the Cleveland Clinic and Cuyahoga Valley Career Center aimed at expanding students' career horizons in the medical field.

Dubbed the "Cleveland Clinic Career Passport Program," eighth graders will get insider exposure to various healthcare roles through a series of interactive sessions, activities, and a culminating field trip to Cleveland Clinic's main campus this April.

We welcomed Cleveland Clinic professionals to IMS on Wednesday morning to speak with our students.

8th-Grade Slideshow

The 8th-Grade Slideshow Committee needs your help. If you have already sent me your pictures, please disregard this email. If you have not done so yet, please email me one infant/toddler picture and one candid picture from when your son/daughter was in 5th grade. These pictures are for the 8th grade slideshow which will be played at the promotion ceremony at the end of the year. Both pictures should just be of the student without any additional people. Please send one email with both pictures to jsatola@independence.k12.oh.us by the end of January and include your student's name in the email subject line.

Thank you for your help!

Vision and Hearing Screenings

Attention 5th and 7th Parents and Guardians:

This is a friendly reminder that vision and hearing screenings will commence at IMS.

A referral will be sent out if a student does not pass the vision screening. A retest will be scheduled in six weeks for those who do not pass the hearing screening. If necessary, a referral will be sent out after the retest.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns about the upcoming screenings or the referral process.

Sincerely,

Kaleigh Hunt, RN, BSN
