Welcome to your India Basin Newsletter for September

Welcome to the latest newsletter for the India Basin Park Project, a partnership between the City of San Francisco, Trust for Public Land, the San Francisco Parks Alliance, the A. Philip Randolph Institute, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, and the Bayview-Hunters Point community.

Together, we will build a park that is both spectacular and crucial to the health of San Francisco’s southeast communities, which have been historically underserved. The development of the land at 900 Innes, acquired in 2014, will transform a post-industrial brownfield into a legacy waterfront park, with an emphasis on public access, social equity, recreation, resiliency, and habitat restoration and enhancement.

In this newsletter, you'll receive regular updates on construction progress, updates on the project's Equitable Development Plan, and invitations to events and happenings around the project.

News & Announcements

Call for Artists for India Basin Waterfront Park Project

The San Francisco Arts Commission is looking for artists and artist teams to submit public art proposals for the India Basin Waterfront Park Project at India Basin Shoreline Park. Proposals for this public art opportunity may range from a single, large sculpture to a series of smaller, human-scale sculptures located along the walking paths through the current India Basin Shoreline Park site. Artwork should be inspired by and responsive to both the site and the proposed park design, including its natural habitats, physical landscape, site history, sustainability, and program. It should also be a point of discovery and have a cohesive narrative experience along trails of the park; serve as an asset for the community and expression of neighborhood identity; and provide a community benefit, which includes providing opportunities for artists with a meaningful connection to the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood in San Francisco. For more information and to begin the application process, click the link below.
