Secretary Blinken pays his first visit to India
|
|
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken touched down in New Delhi on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 evening on a two-day visit. The top US diplomat met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar as well as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval during his maiden visit to India after assuming the office of the US Secretary of State in Biden Administration.

'Few relationships more vital': Blinken says US won't forget India's early pandemic aid

US secretary of state Antony Blinken on Wednesday said that there are few relationships more vital than the one between India and the United States. Speaking at a joint press conference after India-US delegation-level talks, Blinken said the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) hit both countries very hard and the US will not forget the aid and assistance India provided early in the pandemic.

US Navy hands over MH-60R helicopters to India
|

In yet another sign of strengthening the India-US defence relationship, the US Navy has handed over the first two MH-60R Multi Role Helicopters (MRH) to the Indian Navy. The Indian Navy is procuring 24 of these helicopters manufactured by Lockheed Martin under foreign military sales from the US government at an estimated cost of USD 2.4 billion.

The Biden Administration is expected to continue the expansion of the bilateral partnership with India and the driving force of the relationship is concern about China's growing economic and military power in the region, according to a Congressional report.
