India received USD 64 billion in Foreign Direct Investment in 2020, the fifth-largest recipient of inflows in the world, according to a UN report which said the COVID-19 second wave in the country weighs heavily on the country's overall economic activities but its strong fundamentals provide "optimism" for the medium term.

India's exports rose by 46.43 percent to $14.06 billion during June 1-14 on account of healthy growth in shipments in sectors such as engineering, gems and jewelry and petroleum products, according to preliminary data of the commerce ministry.

Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy Ventures-backed 1366 Technologies plans to invest $300 million to set up a 2-gigawatt (GW) solar wafer and cell manufacturing facility in India under the government’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme, said chief executive and founder Frank van Mierlo.

The United States Department of Energy (DOE), India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the US India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) have jointly launched a US-India Hydrogen Task Force. This is under the US-India Strategic Clean Energy Partnership (SCEP).

India exporting cereals to newer destinations, says commerce ministry

India has started exporting cereals like rice and wheat to new destinations, including Puerto Rico, Yemen and Poland, with a view to push the country's agricultural shipments, the commerce ministry said on Monday June 21, 2021.

CoWIN open-source version to be given to 50 nations
|
|
India would soon provide an open-source version of its CoWIN application to nearly 50 countries from Central Asia, Africa and Latin America that have indicated an interest in the technology, R.S. Sharma, CEO, National Health Authority (NHA) and CoWIN platform, said on Monday June 21, 2021 at the 2nd Public Health Summit 2021 — ‘Emerging Imperative in Strengthening Public Health for India’, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The seventh International Yoga Day was celebrated at the iconic Times Square in New York. The day-long yoga festival with the theme of 'Solstice in Times Square 2021' was attended by more than 3,000 people.

Consulate General of India, New York partnered with the Times Square Alliance to host the seventh International Yoga Day on June 20, 2021.
In keeping with this year's theme - Yoga for Wellness, the event showcased holistic health, Ayurvedic and nature-based wellness products from Tribes India (TRIFED)

As this year the IDY was celebrated at the iconic Times Square which receives more than 300,000 visitors everyday, the opportunity was used to promote tribal art, crafts and Ayurvedic/wellness products. The stalls attracted a large number of visitors, eager to learn about the uniqueness of Indian Tribal, Ayurvedic and natural products.
