PM Modi chairs global investors roundtable meet
|
|
The Virtual Global Investor Roundtable-20 (VGIR-20) was focused on a higher Environmental, Social and Governance score along with economic growth and sought to solicit global investment by highlighting reforms taken in various sectors and the government’s vision for the path to a $5 trillion economy. The round table was attended by the pension funds and sovereign wealth funds from the key regions including the United States of America, Europe, Canada, Korea, Japan, the Middle East, Australia, and Singapore.

Exploring Ayurveda for cancer treatment

India and the US have tied up to explore traditional medicine systems like ayurveda in the search for cancer medicines. The two countries signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) during bilateral 2+2 summit week, for exchange of scientists, data and material on a regular basis for research to find complementary and alternative medicines for cancer.

Amazon to invest over US$ 2.77 Bn in Telangana for data centres
|
|
Government of Telangana has announced that AWS will setup multiple data centers in Telangana with an investment of US$ 2.77 Bn. It is the largest Foreign Direct Investment in the history of state. The @AWSCloud Hyd Region is expected to be launched by mid 2022.

Indian Railways solarises over 960 railway stations; aims to be net zero carbon emission network
|
|
The Railway Ministry is aiming to produce solar energy for meeting all its energy consumption requirements of more than 33 billion units by the year 2030 and believes that the use of solar power will accelerate the mission of Indian Railways to become ‘Net Zero Carbon Emission Railway’. Indian Railways has solarised over 960 railway stations till date. Some of the railway stations that are solarised are Jaipur, New Delhi, Old Delhi, Kolkata, Howrah, Guwahati, Varanasi, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, etc.

India capable of strengthening cold chain for
Pfizer vaccine
|
|
The government has been in talks with US drugmaker Pfizer, which has reported that its vaccine BNT162b2 has been more than 90 per cent effective in late-stage trials. The vaccine developed with German biotech firm BioNTech will be reviewed by the US Food and Drug Administration this month. Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that India is in a position to not only augment and strengthen but also add to its cold chain capabilities.

NPCI gives green signal to WhatsApp to launch UPI payment
|
|
NPCI has given approval for WhatsApp to ‘Go Live’ on Unified payments Interface (UPI) in the multi-bank model after the data localisation requirements have been met. UPI will open up a world of opportunities for micro and small businesses that are the backbone of the Indian economy. WhatsApp will be using ICICI Bank as its partner bank in providing UPI services.
