Moritz College of Law Assistant Dean Tra Pham visits India

Tra Pham, assistant dean, graduate and international affairs, Moritz College of Law, traveled to India from March 28 to April 5, to visit top-ranked law colleges in India to discuss potential collaboration and partnerships. Pham also met with one of India’s top law firms to explore experiential learning opportunities for Moritz law students.

Radiation oncology delegation visits India

Senior radiation oncology delegates from Dr. Arnav Chakravarti’s research lab at The James Comprehensive Cancer Center visited India in March. The Ohio State delegation visited All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi to discuss developing training programs for resident oncologists that included blended online training modules and also a forum discussion series to accomplish bilateral training on FLASH / Proton Beam. The visit with the Tata Medical Centre identified potential areas of collaboration including medical physics, tissue bank, AI and joint publications.

Alumni Spotlight: Vishwanath Swarup

Vishwanath Swarup, ‘04 MS industrial and systems engineering, serves as Chief Operating Officer India for Bharat Serums and Vaccines Limited. His training at Ohio State helped prepare him for successful career as a P&L (profit and loss) executive who manages a team of 1,700 people developing a range of biological, biotech and pharmaceutical products. An avid football fan, Swarup loves to catch up with other Buckeyes whenever he gets a chance.

Academic directors for Global Gateways appointed

The Office of International Affairs has appointed three faculty members to serve as academic directors for the Global Gateways, Ohio State’s liaison offices in China, India and Brazil. In addition to their faculty appointments, they will serve as part-time senior advisors for the Global Gateways and connect with Ohio State’s 15 colleges and regional campuses to identify new partnership opportunities abroad. Jay Anand, William H. Davis Chair and Dean’s Distinguished Professor of Strategy at the Fisher College of Business, is the academic director for the India Gateway.

Admitted student outreach

The India Gateway team conducted outreach with undergraduate students joining Ohio State in fall 2023. The team responded to questions about scholarships, next steps, housing, financial aid, campus, and more. The Gateway participated in an Undergraduate Admissions information session in March where students learned more about Ohio State, campus opportunities, deadlines, and available resources. Medha Prakash, a senior majoring in data analytics, provided a student perspective and shared her learning experiences.

The India Gateway 2022 annual report shares statistics on international student recruitment, connecting students to Ohio State resources, partnerships with universities and corporations in India as well as alumni events and networking.
