What's Happening
In the next several weeks the contractor is scheduled to complete paving along Indian Creek Drive and Collins Avenue.
The work and harmonization at the 29 Street Pedestrian Bridge are scheduled to begin shortly and the bridge will remain open during the work.
The contractor has shifted traffic along Collins Avenue near 26 Street to the east side of the street so work may continue along the west side. Two-way traffic has been re-established on Collins Avenue between 27 and 26 streets. Please be aware of the new traffic pattern.
The following activities are scheduled along Indian Creek Drive and side streets:
- Continuing concrete and miscellaneous work at the pump station and generator sites
- Continuing traffic signal and street lighting work along Indian Creek Drive south of 29 Street
- Continuing to install signage, striping and pavement markings
Restoration work continues south of 31 Street along Indian Creek Drive and south of 26 Street on Collins Avenue.
Each property is responsible for regular maintenance of trench drains installed on private property to ensure proper drainage continues.
This schedule may change due to unforeseen conditions or weather.
Project Overview and Benefits
This project delivers vital improvements to the Indian Creek Drive community by providing new sidewalks, a lighting system and a continuous delineated bicycle path. It will also address flooding within the neighborhood by installing a comprehensive stormwater drainage system, including a water treatment system and generator in case of a power outage. The road and sidewalk will be rebuilt at a higher elevation to mitigate sea level rise.
Timeline
The project began in March 2020 and is expected to last approximately two years. Construction work hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Extended time is subject to city approval and community notification. This schedule may change due to weather events or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
- Moderate levels of construction noise can be expected during the day.
- Construction equipment, machinery and workers will be present in work zones.
An advisory will be issued every two weeks or as changes warrant.
