Meet Me in the Middle

Pat Summitt, MAP Tests, and Successful Schools

In this week's Meet Me in the Middle, Dr. Gentene discusses the importance of analyzing success with the same diligence we do defeat. She shares what MAP testing is and how we use these results to meet our students where they are and help them grow. You can read more about MAP assessments here.

Important Information for Parent-Teacher Conferences

We welcome the opportunity to connect with you about your child's progress in their classes through parent-teacher conferences. Here are a few things to keep in mind about conferences:

  • Each teacher has set an appointment calendar for fall conferences based on their availability this fall.
  • For middle and high school teachers, there are not enough appointments for every family on a teacher's roster. If you do not have items to discuss with a teacher, we ask that you consider connecting with the teacher via email for a progress check, rather than taking a conference slot.
  • Please do not schedule conferences with "Study Hall" teachers. This will allow them to stay more available for students enrolled in academic courses.
  • If you need to meet with a teacher and they are fully booked, you cannot align calendars, or you experience difficulty making an appointment: please reach out directly to that teacher. Even though conference slots often get booked, our teachers will work hard to accommodate schedules to ensure that any family with concerns has an opportunity to connect.
  • Use this live spreadsheet to find links to the teachers' conference schedulers. The first tab sorts all teachers by last name. The second tab sorts teachers by department area. You will need to have your child's schedule in front of you to determine which teachers with whom you should make an appointment.

IH-Sponsored Club Information

We are excited to begin student registration for clubs running during the 26-27 school year! You have the ability to sign your student up for clubs through Final Forms.

Please click this link to view this year's club offerings, students will be introduced to these clubs during Advisory next week. The parent walkthrough instructions provide step-by-step guidance on how to add your student to a club’s official roster.

To ensure a smooth process for club advisors, we kindly ask parents to confirm with their student that they are interested in participating in a specific club before completing the registration on Final Forms.

Please note that signing up for a club on Final Forms does not replace the need for students to stay informed. Students should continue to listen for updates in Advisory, through school announcements and regularly check their "Class of" Page for club communications and updates.

Robotics Club - Advisor Needed

The middle school is looking for an advisor for our Robotics club. The middle school Robotics club collaborates with our high school Robotics club as students compete in VEX Robotics competitions. Materials will be provided. The club typically meets after school at 2:45. Meeting days are flexible and can be determined by the club advisor. Please reach out to Alex Fries (alex.fries@ihsd.us) if you would like to learn more.

Companions on a Journey: Grief Support

Is your child currently grieving someone? As a parent or guardian, it can be incredibly difficult to watch your child go through the pain of grief. It can be hard to know what to say or do or how you might help your child feel better. Thankfully, Indian Hill Schools partners with Companions on a Journey (COJ), a grief support organization that facilitates grief support groups at school, during the school day!

COJ is committed to journeying with grieving individuals to help them feel less alone and to help them feel like someone understands what they are going through. COJ's grief groups are one time per month, and each group includes an activity and engaging discussion. It is free to participate, and students can join anytime throughout the school year. If you are interested in learning m

ore or would like to sign your student up for a grief support group, please contactthe school counselor.
