Congratulations to Donna Griffith and Greg Sanders for being appointed as the new City of Indian Wells Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem!
Mayor Donna Griffith was elected to the City Council in 2020 and has been involved in the community for many years. She is a Coachella Valley native and has a wide range of experience serving the Indian Wells community, including serving on the Grants in Aid Committee and the Indian Wells Golf Resort Advisory Committee.

Mayor Pro Tem Greg Sanders has served as a City Council Member since 2020. He previously served as the Chief of Staff for a member of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, the Chief of Staff for a member of the House of Representatives, and a member of the Indian Wells Planning Commission. He specializes in land use, planning, zoning and environmental law.

January 11-13, 2023:
Finals Weekend Lottery. The Lottery form will be live on Wed., January 11 at 8 a.m. until Friday, January 13 at 5 p.m.
February 13-18, 2023:
General Ticket form will be live on the website at 8:30 a.m. The form will be active for one week or until all tickets are reserved.
March 9, 2023:
Residents Day at the BNP Paribas Open. Form will be live on Monday, February 20 at 8 a.m.

The Public Works Maintenance Crew has replaced the non-functioning red traffic light indicator at the southwest corner of Cook Street and Highway 111.
Additionally, the Highway 111 Phase I paving project has been completed. To complement the Highway 111 paving project, the City also refreshed the existing striping along Highway 111 from Eldorado Drive to the eastern City limits.

Please note, the online form is for renewals only. New residents, first-time cardholders, or those who have recently changed properties in Indian Wells must obtain a Resident Benefit Card in person at City Hall starting in 2023.

On Monday, December 5, the City of Indian Wells welcomed its first veteran intern through the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Veterans Local Government Management Fellowship SkillBridge Program. The first veteran intern in this program, Talon Burgess, is a resident of the Coachella Valley who served 20 years in the United States Marine Corps.

Indian Wells Historic Preservation Foundation

On December 4, the 21st Annual Meeting of the Indian Wells Historic Preservation Foundation honored President Adele Ruxton as she retired from her longtime leadership role and dedication to preserving City history.
Over 60 members attended this festive occasion at the Indian Wells Resort Hotel including incoming Mayor Donna Griffith, Mayor Pro Tem Greg Sanders, Council Member Bruce Whitman, elder statesman Richard Oliphant plus a surprise visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus who presented Adele with a ‘look-a-like’ nutcracker!

Cim Castellon, Foundation archivist, Secretary and Treasurer, curated distinctive historic exhibits, Adele’s tireless contributions, and a delightful slide series highlighting Foundation events.
Newly-elected Board Members are President Linda Blank, Vice President Kevin Mead, Secretary Dan Hamilton, Treasurer NJ Bradeen and Member-at-Large Katherine Meade. They have big shoes to fill given their commitment to advancing Ruxton’s legacy in 2023 and beyond.
