Indiana as Agtech Innovation Hub? New Study Says it’s on the Horizon


A recent study by TEConomy Partners concluded that Indiana is emerging as a center of innovation in the agricultural science and technology sector. With a statewide increase in “agbioscience” job postings since 2017 and expanding agtech businesses like Umbarger Show Feeds in Franklin, AgriNovus Indiana believes the state is on track for greater job creation and economic growth with this advanced industry.

Franklin Works to Clean Up “Cable Pollution” Around Town


The City of Franklin is addressing the growing nuisance known as "cable pollution.” Cable pollution manifests in many forms, including wire cables haphazardly dangling from telephone poles and abandoned installations in residential yards after homeowners switch internet or cable TV providers.

Indiana Workers Could Feel Impacts of Strikes, Even if They're Not on the Picket Lines


The United Auto Workers’ (UAW) strategy of targeted strikes in plants in neighboring states like Michigan and Ohio could have implications for Indiana plants, as parts supply chains may be disrupted, potentially affecting production downstream. From manufacturers like NSK and Mitsubishi, to local car dealerships, UAW activity can influence almost any part of the Indiana automotive industry.

Employee Retention Credits – Proceed with Caution!

The Cares Act was signed into law on March 27, 2020 by President Trump as a COVID relief package to help people and employers cope with financial repercussions of the pandemic. Included in The Cares Act were PPP loans and Employee Retention Tax credits. The original legislation indicated that an employer could choose either the PPP loan program or ERC tax credits, but not both. Most employers correctly opted for the PPP loan and did not claim ERC tax credits.
