JULY 2026

Dear Booksellers,

We’re excited to share the July edition of Indie Lit on the Shelf, CLMP’s monthly newsletter helping you stay abreast of what’s happening with small presses and literary magazines!

We recently announced the winners of the 2026 Firecracker Awards, which honor the best independently published books of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry and the best literary magazines in the categories of debut and general excellence. Below, you’ll find information about these winners, as well as a list of YA novels for summer reading, roundups for July's Disability Pride Month and August's Women in Translation Month, a spotlight on Litmus Press, and more.

And keep an eye out for the July Box Mailing from the ABA, which includes information about the winning titles, winner seals, and shelf talkers to help you promote the Firecracker Awards winners in your stores. This year, we’re offering a special incentive to bookstores that promote these titles. The first 20 bookstores to send us images of their in-store displays are eligible to receive $50! Just send an image of your display to info@clmp.org with the subject line: 2026 Firecracker Awards, and we’ll email back with information about how to redeem this offer. We also encourage you to share your displays on social media using #FirecrackerAwards, and we’ll share them with our growing network of over 20,000 indie lit lovers.

Sincerely,

Mary Gannon

Executive Director, CLMP
