Indivisible , a movie based on the true story of Army Chaplain Darren Turner and his family, was released earlier this year, has been described as “one of the most moving and powerful films” on Military Chaplaincy. This film depicts a realistic portrayal of military life and the strains that it can place on marriages and families, as well as the ultimate redemption that God delivers when burdens are turned over to Him. The Warrior’s Journey®, a website offering resources for Military Chaplains and their families, has created supplemental material, encouraging viewers to continue the dialogue after the movie has ended. With the American Bible Society, they have collected devotions from authors who have experienced military life first-hand, and are well aware of the challenges and blessings it can bring. Our CSC Coordinator, Dr. Brenda Pace, has been asked to wri te a devotion about the challenges on “The Home Front” and the inevitable family separation during training and deployment. “Military spouses can become independent and self-reliant out of necessity and experience”, she says, but she emphasizes the importance of support and encouragement throughout a spouse’s absence encouraged in verses such as Hebrew’s 3:13. The rest of the devotions similarly offer hope in the face of the film’s difficult topics, such as PTSD, grief, and divorce, and provide practical guidance and support through Scripture.
Indivisible i s currently in theaters, and will be released on DVD January 29. You can find show-times and more about the film at https://indivisiblemovie.com/ .
