Newsletter May 14, 2026
Engage - Act - Effect Change
| | | | |
Dear All,
Every day we read about war, attacks on voting rights, political corruption and mismanagement, and overwhelming cruelty to the least powerful among us. However, on Monday May 11, speaker Brian Corr delivered a message of hope, as part of the IndivisibleWIN speaker series.
Brian's talk was titled "From Exhaustion to Action: How Communities Sustain the Work of Democracy". He told personal stories that made us think deeply, and shared quotes and readings that reaffirmed our faith in each other and in the process.
Brian echoed Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s call for a shift from a "thing-oriented society" to a "person-oriented society". He spoke of the Three Faces of Power, and the importance of learning from and speaking truth to all of them. He challenged the audience to consider why we keep doing this work, and what sort of world we want to leave to our descendents. Finally, he reminded us that hundreds of years from now, there will be people who will have benefited from the help you gave.

Many thanks to the Winchester Unitarian Society for allowing us to use their space for our talk, and for the volunteers who welcomed us into the space.
Now, we are re-committed to the work we do, and newly hopeful that our actions — and our organizing in community — will make a difference. Read on for actions YOU can take--this week and beyond.

Power & Representation: The Post-Callais Fight
TONIGHT!
| | |
Lauren Groh-Wargo, CEO of Fair Fight, joins BigTentUSA alongside Tennessee State Rep. Justin Pearson for a rapid-response conversation on the sweeping impact of the Louisiana v. Callais decision.** We’ll break down what the ruling means, how it’s already reshaping voting rights across the South, and why communities of color face renewed threats to fair representation.

**On April 29, 2026, the Supreme Court ruled in Louisiana v. Callais that Louisiana's congressional map establishing a second majority-Black district was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander, thereby weakening Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act by restricting the use of race in drawing majority-minority districts.

Call Your Reps in DC
Tell Congress to vote NO on Voter Supression
| | |
Republicans are once again pushing for a series of voter suppression bills — all variations of their infamous “SAVE Act” which would create unnecessary obstacles for millions of eligible Americans trying to register to vote.
These bills wouldn’t improve election security — they would just make it significantly harder for everyday Americans to vote.
Tell your Representative to vote against the SAVE Act, the MEGA Act, or any bill that attacks our voting rights.
