Engage - Act - Effect Change

Dear All,

YOU CAME!

Winchester, you showed up — and so did Woburn, Lexington, Arlington, Medford, Stoneham, and many more. Joining the 7 million+ protesters across the country, more than 800 people stood together in Winchester for our October 18 No Kings rally.

We saw creative signs, families with kids, older adults and teens, even a few inflatable costumes. We heard chants, music, and a steady stream of cars honking their approval. The positive energy was electric.

Our No Kings rally had a block-party vibe with an urgent message: our democracy — the one we love so much — is under daily attack. The system of checks and balances that protects us all is being eroded, and our elected officials are struggling to push back. That’s why it’s so critical that we keep up the pressure — through protests, phone calls, and community action.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, supported from home, or cheered us on from the sidewalk or in passing cars. Whether you marched, prayed, or talked with neighbors, you were part of something powerful. We see you, and we appreciate you.

Comments after the Winchester No Kings rally

We could not have had such a wonderful event without the amazing energy of hundreds of attendees. However, a SPECIAL SHOUT OUT to our amazing volunteer team.

Marshals who ensured our event remained peaceful and safe:

Alan Field, Greg Papazian, Dave Sawyer, and Chatham Sullivan

Chant Leaders who kept our energy next level:

Darren Elkins, Heidi Rutstein, and Carol Savage

And of course our amazing shark who helped to rally the crowd and honking cars:

Lydia Drapeau

Everyone who participated — whether you joined in person, drove by and honked, or stopped to offer encouragement — helped create a joyful, peaceful, and united event.

Here are a few comments that capture what we all felt that day…

"i was grateful there was such a great group of people to express my outrage with..."

On the heels of No Kings Day, we hosted a Speaker event that.proved to be engaging and informative, "Activism That Works!". We were pleased to welcome Betsy Leondar-Wright, PhD, and Ann Wright—longtime social justice activists.

Using case studies and research, they shared effective strategies for creating change. Throughout the 90 minute presentation, we broke into small groups of 4-5 people to discuss ways we could apply the techniques they had just outlined.

Urgent Action List

Sometimes we are notified about time-sensitive actions, whether in-person or from home.

Examples might be, a stand-out at the Burlington ICE Detention Center due to a specific situation outside of the regular, weekly protests, or contacting your legislators about upcoming bills they will vote on.

Would you like to be added to a special email list for urgent,

time-sensitive actions?

We do not want to send too many emails outside of our regular newsletter, so opting in would mean infrequent, targeted actions (and of course no obligation to participate in any action).

To be added to the list, email us HERE,

and use subject line "Urgent Actions"

Stay Involved

The energy from October 18 can't fade. Let’s carry it forward — into conversations with friends, into calls to our representatives, into every action that strengthens our democracy.

IndivisibleWIN will continue organizing, learning, and showing up together — because when we act together, hope grows stronger than fear. Courage is contagious!

Stay tuned for our next speaker event and upcoming volunteer opportunities. Together, we’ll keep proving that democracy works best when we show up for it.
