Engage - Act - Effect Change
| | | | |
Dear All,
Tuesday night's State of the Union address—and voter responses—showed that President Trump is speaking almost exclusively to his base, which is growing increasingly narrow. Meanwhile, the resistance against his administration's actions is growing and includes moderates, progressives, independents, Democrats, and even some disillusioned Republicans.
The administration continues to cause chaos both at home (e.g., the ever-shifting tariff policies and now businesses fighting for refunds, firing then rehiring civil servants, round after round of lawsuits) and abroad (e.g., threatening Greenland, insulting our allies in Canada and Europe, gearing up for an undisclosed intervention or attack on Iran with no clear aim or timeline).
Meanwhile, WE can continue our own work to push back against the administration's most authoritarian moves and harmful policies. Our movement is growing. Join us however you can—by staying informed, engaging in difficult conversations, attending protests, participating in online discussions and trainings, and/or calling our representatives.
We're all in this together. Together, we'll protect our democracy this year and for years into the future. Check out the growing number of activities/events below that we’re having in Winchester!

Contact Rep. Katherine Clark
Ask her to file suit against ICE
| | |
The Bearing Witness group @ICE Detention Center in Burlington, MA shares this message: "We’re grateful that Rep. Clark made an unannounced visit to the ICE facility on February 9th. ICE illegally denied her entry to conduct lawful oversight, so we are now urging Rep. Clark to file a lawsuit against ICE for violating her rights. As the only member of congress in MA who has tried to enter the ICE facility unannounced and been rejected, she is the only person in our entire state who has legal standing to file this lawsuit."

Email your Reps in DC
Tell Congress to rein in ICE now
| | |
A simple form (taking less than a minute) that will send a pre-written message to your legislators. There is a chance to add your own additional comments if you choose.
A broad coalition of groups across the country, including Indivisible, is demanding that Congress answer our call to get ICE Out For Good.
This coalition is specifically demanding that Members of Congress oppose any appropriations bill that includes increased funding for ICE or Border Patrol, and refuse to vote for any funding bill for DHS unless certain criteria are met.
More information and the form HERE.

Call Your Reps in DC
Tell Congress to vote NO on Voter Supression
| | |
Republicans are once again pushing for a series of voter suppression bills—all variations of their infamous “SAVE Act” which would create unnecessary obstacles for millions of eligible Americans trying to register to vote.
These bills wouldn’t improve election security—they would just make it significantly harder for everyday Americans to vote.
Tell your Representative to vote against the SAVE Act, the MEGA Act, or any bill that attacks our voting rights.

Training: Protest Safety / Protest Marshaling
| | |
Protests, rallies, and marches are important tactics to fight back against the Trump Administration. Volunteer marshals help ensure the intended message is delivered by keeping the event safe. Marshals may direct traffic, de-escalate conflict if there are counter protesters, and support the success of the action. There is a significant need for more marshals, and also for protesters understanding protest safety.
Join this virtual 90 minute training by experienced marshal lead and trainer Elaine Almquist, sponsored by Indivisible Somerville.
More information and registration HERE.
