Engage - Act - Effect Change

Facebook            Instagram            Web            Email

Dear All,

We did it! The first two No Kings days in 2025 were the two largest one-day protests in American history (except for the first Arbor Day in 1970). And Saturday's No Kings day was even larger, with around 8 million around the world standing up for democracy, human rights, and human decency. No matter where people live in the US they could drive by a protest and see their friends and neighbors holding signs and calling out the cruel and reckless Trump administration. The mainstream news couldn't ignore it — from Fox News to the New York Times, all covered the protests and gave our movement an extra boost.

Thanks to everyone who joined us in Winchester! We organized a rally-style event with speakers, musicians, an emcee, a spoken-word poet, and chanting. Some people chose to march to the meeting point, from three different locations, giving us even more visibility. Cars passing by honked in support. People stopped by our action table to get information and pick up packets of post cards, or visited the League of Women Voters' voter registration table. The crowd had great energy —and people said it was wonderful being around so many like-minded neighbors.

Holding a successful protest isn't an end in itself — it's the warm-up event to the next seven months leading up to the midterms. We have to keep the energy high, keep people motivated, and encourage everyone to get out to vote.

If YOU were motivated this weekend, carry that energy forward. Read on for events you can join — in Winchester and around the area.

From Exhaustion to Action: How Communities Sustain the work of Democracy

At a moment when many of us feel overwhelmed, isolated, and unsure whether our efforts matter, Brian Corr offers a grounded, hopeful framework for staying engaged. Drawing on nearly four decades of experience in community organizing, peacebuilding, and civic leadership — including work in grassroots organizing and municipal government — Brian will explore how communities have sustained themselves through times of crisis and built lasting power for change. He'll share practical lessons and strategies about what keeps people connected, motivated, and effective when the stakes are high and the road is long. This is not a talk about what's wrong — it's about what we can do together, and why it's worth doing.

Protecting Voter Rights

Keep hearing about the SAVE Act, but not sure what all the fuss is about? The “Safeguard American Voter Eligibility” (SAVE), if passed, will suppress the vote in significant ways.

It would disproportionately impact:

  • Married women who have changed their last names, many of whom don’t have birth certificates matching their legal name
  • Transgender and non-binary people who face barriers legally changing their names
  • Naturalized citizens could face additional barriers and intimidation
  • Rural Americans who would no longer have access to online and mail-in voting
  • Military members, tribal citizens, and working-class Americans, who may not have easy access to these documents

Tell Congress to stop Trump's war with Iran

Tell Congress: Stop Trump's war with Iran! This unauthorized war has already killed American servicemembers and over 1,000 Iranian civilians. It has devolved into a larger regional conflict, with missile and drone strikes, military operations, and retaliatory attacks now wounding and killing civilians in countries across the Middle East. The American public is firmly behind this conflict; we do not want another forever war, and we do not want our tax dollars to pay for more bombs.

Visit the Indivisible webpage HERE to send a message to your Members of Congress.

Call Your Reps in DC

Tell Congress to vote NO on Voter Supression

Republicans are once again pushing for a series of voter suppression bills all variations of their infamous “SAVE Act” which would create unnecessary obstacles for millions of eligible Americans trying to register to vote.

These bills wouldn’t improve election security they would just make it significantly harder for everyday Americans to vote.

Tell your Representative to vote against the SAVE Act, the MEGA Act, or any bill that attacks our voting rights.

Training: Protest Safety / Protest Marshaling

Protests, rallies, and marches are important tactics to fight back against the Trump Administration. Volunteer marshals help ensure the intended message is delivered by keeping the event safe. Marshals may direct traffic, de-escalate conflict if there are counter protesters, and support the success of the action. There is a significant need for more marshals, and also for protesters understanding protest safety.

Join this virtual 90-minute training by experienced marshal lead and trainer Elaine Almquist, sponsored by Indivisible Somerville.
