Dear Brookwood Members,

In recent weeks, several Brookwood members who have been present in the building have later tested positive for COVID. This is not surprising when one considers the rising case numbers, hospitalizations, and deaths across the country.

This afternoon, I have met with our physician advisors: Greg Davis, Jim Isobe, and Stacey Gilbert. At this time, we are suspending indoor in-person Sunday School and all Children’s/Preschool in-person events, indefinitely. The Christmas Caroling at the Barnettes this Sunday has also been canceled.

We are committed to striving for transparency as we navigate this difficult virus and all the various ways it impacts us as a church family. We do not take this decision lightly. We face significant tension in trying to provide in-person activities that keep us connected and also honor the value of keeping our people safe and healthy. As we’ve said from the beginning, people’s attitudes toward this virus and what they deem appropriate responses vary greatly across the spectrum. These are difficult days demanding difficult decisions. It’s sometimes gray area as to what’s best. I ask for your continued prayers and patience with us as we move forward. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as deemed advisable, and communicate updates to the church body.

Grace and peace,
Blake
