Golfers from all over the country and NBA All Stars, Clifford Robinson and John Starks, WFAN's Radio & TV Talent, Ann Liguori, Artist/Songwriter/Producer, T Bone Burnett, Actor/Comedian, Anthony Anderson and Singer/Songwriter, Sarah Marince joined Clay Walker for this fun filled week to raise money and awareness for his charity, Band Against MS (BAMS), a disease Walker has been battling since 1996. The event kick off included a welcome Putting Contest and reception and was followed by three fabulous rounds of golf on the beautiful Links of Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach. The Grand Gala included dinner, open bar, a live and silent auction and an exclusive concert by Clay Walker. Nashville's newest star, Sarah Marince, opened for Clay Walker and brought the crowd to their feet. Anthony Anderson surprised the crowd with his rendition of "You're Going to Love Me" and T Bone Burnett sang and strummed his guitar for the wowed crowd as well. "This has been an incredible few days with my family, friends and supporters of Band Against MS (BAMS). Pebble Beach is one of the most beautiful places in the world and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to raise awareness and funds for a disease that affects so many by combining two of my favorite passions, golf and music," said Walker. "I am still wondering why it took Clay 5 years to invite me to his great event. I am now an even bigger fan of his and the work of Band Against MS. I will be here to support his mission for years to come," said Anthony Anderson.

John Franco Inducted Into Mets' Hall Of Fame
There's always been something about John Franco that made him the quintessential New Yorker. Once an All-Star closer and New York Mets captain, Franco is now a member of the Mets' Hall of Fame. He was inducted this June 3, 2012, during a 35-minute ceremony at Citi Field before a Sunday night game against St. Louis this June 3, 2012. Wiping tears from his eyes at the podium behind second base, he thanked just about everyone he could think of and said pitching for his boyhood team was a dream come true. Franco's family, friends and several former teammates from the Mets and nearby St. John's University were on hand for his big night.
"For those 14 years that I played here, I gave it my best," a smiling Franco told fans who arrived early for the festivities.
Dressed in a sharp suit and orange tie, he walked in from the right-field bullpen to the song "Johnny Be Good" and waved to the crowd. He was presented with his Hall of Fame plaque, to be displayed alongside the others inside Citi Field's main entrance.
The ceremony started with New York City Department of Sanitation bagpipers playing in left-center field. Franco's dad was a sanitation worker for nearly two decades and a union shop steward in Brooklyn. In a touching tribute, the reliever wore his late father's orange Department of Sanitation T-shirt under his uniform when he pitched for the Mets, and he got choked up Sunday night when talking about his parents. "The sanitation department was like my second family," Franco said. His salute featured a 2-minute video tribute and concluded with Franco throwing out the first pitch to son J.J., who wore his father's No. 45 Mets jersey.
Small for a pitcher at 5-foot-10, Franco was drafted in the fifth round by the Los Angeles Dodgers and beat the baseball odds to last 21 seasons in the majors. He did it with a crafty circle change and a fearless, fiery mindset on the mound.
Franco is the Mets' career leader in saves (276) and games pitched (695). He joined the team in 1990 after a trade from Cincinnati and stayed in New York until 2004, making him the second-longest tenured player in team history. The four-time All-Star finished with 424 major league saves, fourth on the career list and the most by a left-hander.
Highlights of Franco's stint with the Mets include a World Series win and a 1.88 ERA in 15 postseason appearances. Twice he struck out home run king Barry Bonds in crucial situations during the 2000 NL playoffs, helping the Mets advance to a Subway Series.
One of only three captains in Mets history, Franco became the 26th member of the team's Hall of Fame, joining such luminaries as Casey Stengel, Gil Hodges, Ralph Kiner, Tom Seaver, Gary Carter and Tug McGraw - another lefty reliever with a bubbly personality who was Franco's favorite player as a kid. Some of those Hall of Famers were on the field for the ceremony, including ex-teammates Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry.
"To be on the wall with those guys, it means an awful lot to me," said Franco, now a club ambassador with the Mets. "It's humbling. I'm very honored."

Last September at the 2nd Annual Pediatric Cancer Caucus in Washington D.C, David and his son, Max Plotkin, invited guests of Congressman Michael McCaul, spoke on Capitol Hill to an assembly filled with US Congressmen, CEO's of corporations and foundations among hundreds of other pediatric cancer advocates in favor of the Creating Hope Act. Eight year old Max shared his story and received a standing ovation by a crowd of over 500 attendees. On Monday, July 9, 2012, the Creating Hope Act was signed into law by President Obama. The passing of the Creating Hope Act is a historic moment for the pediatric cancer community and is the first Congressional effort to address the profound scarcity of drugs for pediatric cancer and other pediatric life-threatening and rare diseases.
Representative Michael McCaul (TX) and Representative G.K. Butterfield (NC) co-sponsored the Creating Hope Act, introducing it to legislation on September 26, 2011. Richard Plotkin was active with respect to the efforts of the bipartisan Congressional Caucus on Pediatric Cancer to get the Creating Hope Act passed. He has been personally thanked for his efforts by Rep. McCaul (TX), Nancy Goodman and many others who expressed their gratitude by acknowledging Richard as one of the "driving forces" behind making this a reality. Less than .05% of bills that get introduced are signed.

B-East Roar Spin Returns

The Max Cure Foundation will benefit from a two-hour B-East adult spin class and a boot camp/obstacle course for kids at Amagansett Square - a tune-up for the fourth Roar for a Cure Carnival the following Saturday at the Ross School in East Hampton.
Supporters will be able to ride for one or two hours and while they do, children will walk on balance beams, climb walls, toss basketballs, swing on ropes over water, crawl under netting, race with eggs on spoons, jump through rings and run with tires. The children's boot camp and obstacle course activities are free and will even include face painter, bobbles for toddlers to climb and snow cones. All children's activities will be monitored for age appropriateness.

The Ross School will play host to this year's carnival on their beautiful playing fields and the grounds will be transformed into a magical carnival atmosphere with activities for all ages, from pre-toddler, to pre-teen! There will be walk-around entertainment, as well as music, a silent auction and raffle, a relaxation tent for the weary parents; even a nature tent, generously provided by the South Fork Natural History Museum, SOFO. The Max Cure Foundation (MCF) is a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to advancing cures for pediatric cancers, funding the development of less toxic treatments for children, including the funding of an immune cell therapy lab at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center dedicated to alternative treatments for children battling the disease.
