"I am impressed"
Work at VELCO Recognized
We received a letter of recognition from Walter Oakes, who works as a safety consultant for VELCO inspecting job sites of the people who perform work for them. Walter took the time to send Joe Matteri a letter stating "I am impressed," praising our work on the 340 Line and on the Rutland North Substation project.
340 Line
John Wallek and his crew at the 340 Line are building a 5-mile stone access road on the right-of-way, as well as crane pads for structure replacement. Here is what Walter had to say about our work on this project:
Rutland North Substation
Brian Rossier and his crews have a few big projects under way at the Rutland North Substation. Over the past few days, there have been upwards of 35 people on site at one time, creating the additional challenge of a congested work site.

One crew is working on a deep (18') excavation to install two new oil containment tanks. The other crew is installing a new 46kv duct bank that is being dug, and also pouring/installing the transformer pad containment sump. Our subcontractors are working hard on getting the new Control Building watertight. Roof panels will be installed this week, opening up all of the inside work to now get completed.
Here is what Walter had to say about our work on this project:
Great work by everyone involved in these projects! It speaks volumes when someone takes time out of their day to write a letter like this, detailing all of the specific elements they were impressed with.
Congratulations team on your great work, and thank you for representing us so well.
Safety Topic: Rushing
We have had fewer accidents this June than we have had in recent years. When we looked at where our accidents do come from this time of year, we found that they came from mistakes made due to rushing.

We understand that there is a lot going on during this time of year, and demands are high. However, the truth is that when everyone pays attention and performs their job safely, we are more productive. One accident can slow any job to a screeching halt, and can cost far more than just production time.
If you have suggestions on how things can be faster, safer, or more efficient, please speak up and let your supervisor know (or drop it in the suggestion box below).

We all need to look out for one another, and that is how we will continue to be our best.
Thank you everyone, for all you have accomplished this month. Keep up the great work!
Can you answer the question from this week's safety discussion?
