Patriots Path

Founded in 2013 and based in Charlotte, Patriots Path is the region's first non-profit career coaching and job search training program created specifically to support the unique needs of military personnel in transition to civilian careers. The 5-Part Career Support Class, developed and taught by career coaches and executive recruiters, empowers and encourages veterans navigating the complex civilian landscape of networking, elevator pitches and interviewing.
The program is unique in a number of ways:
  • They do not simply connect "students" with job opportunities, but support them first in discovering how their military experience can translate to the civilian workforce in the most rewarding way.
  • Classes are small (10-15 participants) with sessions created solely for the military population. This fosters community, trust and accountability as the team stays together for all 5 classes.
  • In addition to the 5 group classes, students complete breakout sessions (one-on-one with assigned mentors and coaches) to cover personalized resume (re)writing, mock interviews and job shadowing.
There are a number of ways you and your company can make a difference through Patriots Path - either by volunteering as an "HR coach" on up to sponsoring and hosting a whole class ($5,000) of students to do the 5-part series within your facility (great exposure for your company, especially if hiring).
Contact Noel and her team today if you would like to support this great effort.

The North Carolina Science Festival (founded in 2010) is a multi-day celebration showcasing science and technology. Through hands-on activities, science talks, lab tours, nature experiences, exhibits and performances, the Festival engages a wide range of public audiences while inspiring the next generation. It's the first statewide celebration of its kind in the nation and one of the largest public celebrations of Science in the world.

Next year, the Festival team wants to expand its footprint to the Catawba County region, with the hopes of cultivating an environment that further encourages children to pursue science-related careers.
You are invited to this informational meeting to learn more about the NC Science Festival and how your company can possibly collaborate on the event. Past partnerships with the likes of Google, Duke Energy, SAS and others, have shown that the Festival is a fantastic way to engage your employees in outreach, spread goodwill, and make a community impact.
