BCHA At Venue Series in Kelowna

BCHA was in attendance supporting the Venue Series last week in Lake Country at the gorgeous 50th Parallel Estate Winery. BCHA members such as Spirit Ridge, Silver Star, Prestige Hotels & Resorts, The Cove, Delta Grand Okanagan Resort by Marriott and the Eldorado Resort met with Okanagan meeting planners to discuss group and event opportunities. 

BCHA on Lack of Affordable Housing & Impact on Workforce

This week, BCHA President and CEO, Ingrid Jarrett, spoke to a number of media outlets surrounding the lack of affordable housing that is causing many accommodation employers to seek housing solutions within their very own properties:

“We have a housing shortage in B.C. in all areas of the province,” Jarrett said. “It doesn’t matter if you are in Fort St. John, if you’re in Kelowna, if you’re in Victoria. It is not just resort communities. There is a severe shortage of affordable rental housing.”

On April 17, 2023, the Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada (PacifiCan), announced over $2.9 million in PacifiCan funding through the Tourism Relief Fund for 14 projects in Vancouver.
