Industry Gathers in Kamloops to Kick Off Tourism Week |
Ingrid Jarrett, President and CEO of the BCHA, took the stage at Tourism Kamloops' luncheon today to commemorate National Tourism Week. During her presentation, she discussed the most recent developments in British Columbia's tourism industry. We are always delighted to connect with industry colleagues in celebration of Tourism, including Ellen Walker-Matthews, CEO of Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, Nicole Ford, VP of Communications at Rocky Mountaineer, and Walt Judas, CEO, at Tourism Industry Association of BC who also spoke on that panel.

BC Tourism Industry Pens Op-ed in Celebration of Tourism Week |
BC tourism leaders, including the Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, recognize the significant contributions of the industry to BC's culture, economy, and people. Despite challenges, the industry has achieved impressive numbers, including 19 million passengers passing through Vancouver International Airport in 2022 and BC hotels achieving the highest occupancy rates among all provinces and territories. Vancouver organizations receive almost $3 million to enhance Local Tourism Experiences Province Invests in Tourism Infrastructure Across BC |
The province has announced $20 million in funds to support priority infrastructure repairs and improvements to Science World's dome and other parts of the building. Additionally, another $30 million is being provided to enhance existing tourism infrastructure across BC, including new attractions, campground developments, accessibility improvements, and climate change adaptations. These new funds build on the $15 million previously allocated for 2023, supporting 90 shovel-ready, tourism-development projects throughout the province.

Destination BC Announces Over $6 Million in Funding for Co-Op Marketing Partnerships Program for BC Tourism |
Destination BC has announced the distribution of over $6 million in funding to support tourism marketing initiatives throughout BC in celebration of National Tourism Week. The Co-operative Marketing Partnerships Program will fund 70 initiatives for various tourism activity sectors and community consortiums, providing visitors with a better understanding of diverse areas of the province and unique experiences available. Recipients include Camping & RV in BC, Paddle BC, and West Coast Food, among others. This year's Co-op program was expanded through additional Provincial funding, and aims to increase visitation and revenue in shoulder seasons.
