Today, the British Columbia General Employee’s Union (BCGEU) announced that as a show of good faith during negotiations with the BC Government, it would stand down on strike action at Liquor Distribution Branch's warehouses, while also ending its ban on overtime.
Accommodators know first-hand that the BCGEU strike action has thrown our entire hospitality sector into turmoil, hurting both businesses, and more importantly, employees.
We deeply appreciate that the BC Government and the BCGEU have answered our call to go back to the table and pause strike action during negotiations, which will help restore the flow of products to our hospitality industry and retailers.
At the same time, it is imperative that a quick resolution is found. We need certainty.
An update from ABLE BC on operations: "We don’t yet know when the LDB will restart operations and begin accepting orders. As thousands of licensees across BC seek to replenish depleted inventory, we are working with the LDB to understand how industry can best support the efficient and fair flow of goods from their warehouses."
We will continue to keep our members updated.
