Advocacy Win! Recognized Employer Pilot | |
The BCHA is applauding today's announcement from the Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Official Languages, launching the Recognized Employer Pilot (REP) under the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program--something that the BCHA has long-advocated for. This three-year initiative seeks to tackle labor scarcities while easing administrative burdens for compliant repeat employers. By offering valid Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) for up to 36 months and simplified LMIA applications, REP empowers employers to plan staffing needs more efficiently and reduces the LMIA submissions over three years. Scheduled in two phases, starting September 2023, primary agriculture employers will be able to apply, followed by all other employers in January 2024. REP represents a vital step amidst several initiatives aimed at enhancing the TFW Program.
