Province Announces $30 million for Fairs, Festivals and Events
|
The Province announced the return of the BC Fairs, Festivals and Events (BCFFE) fund. The BCFFE will provide $30 million in one-time grants to eligible events occurring between April 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024. Grant amounts will be as much as 20% of the total event budget, to a maximum of $250,000. Applications will remain open until March 3, 2023.

BC Chamber of Commerce Calls on Government to Reduce Costs on Business

In advance of the Government of British Columbia’s release of Budget 2023, expected at the end of February, representatives from the BC Chamber of Commerce are pressing for actions to address the cost of doing business in B.C.

Northern BC Communities Receive Funding to Enhance Tourism Experiences

The Honourable Harjit S. Sajjan, Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada (PacifiCan), announced over $830,000 in PacifiCan funding through the Tourism Relief Fund for six projects throughout the Skeena-Bulkley Valley.

City of Vancouver to Repeal
Single-Use Cup Fee
|
Vancouver City Council voted to end the city’s 25-cent single-use cup fee after receiving resounding feedback from local businesses, consumers and associations that the fee has been ineffective in its initial goal of reducing the number of single-use cups being used. The City will repeal the year-old bylaw and draft a bylaw amendment by June 1st for the fee to be formally repealed.
