STR Summary: Positive Occupancy and Revenue Growth in British Columbia |
From June 25 to July 01, 2023, British Columbia experienced encouraging performance in the hospitality sector. With a 4.60% increase compared to the same week in 2022, the province achieved a noteworthy 76.80% occupancy rate from Sunday to Thursday and an impressive 85.40% occupancy rate during the weekend. The average daily rate (ADR) also saw a boost, reaching $260.25 from Sunday to Thursday and $311.02 during the weekend, representing a 5.70% increase compared to the previous year. Moreover, revenue per available room (RevPAR) experienced substantial growth, with a RevPAR of $199.86 from Sunday to Thursday and $265.69 during the weekend, reflecting a remarkable 10.60% increase compared to the same week in 2022. These positive trends highlight the thriving hospitality industry in British Columbia.

WorkSafeBC Updates Heat Stress Safety Measures for Workers |
WorkSafeBC has updated its heat stress safety measures to protect workers from rising temperatures. Last year, 81 heat stress-related claims were accepted. The revised regulations require employers to conduct assessments, develop control plans, and implement safe work procedures. Workers in industries like farming, construction, and hospitality are at particular risk. WorkSafeBC encourages engagement with workers and joint health and safety committees to identify hazards and reduce risks. Updated safety tips and resources are available on the WorkSafeBC website.
