Advocacy Win! | Expansion of Francophone Mobility Program

Exciting news for BC hoteliers! The Francophone Mobility Program has expanded, offering new recruitment avenues to address the workforce crisis. Thanks to the advocacy efforts of the BCHA, HAC, and additional advocacy partners, you now have the opportunity to hire eligible international candidates with a moderate command of French in various occupations without the cost and process of an LMIA. BCHA Accommodation Feedback Survey Results

Thank you, BC accommodators, for participating in the BCHA Accommodation Engagement Survey. We received over 110 more submissions than last year, which will greatly assist us in tailoring our services and efforts. We are currently analyzing the feedback and will announce key results and steps to address it in our upcoming industry update newsletter. Your contribution is invaluable, and we appreciate your ongoing support in enhancing the BC accommodation industry.

Provincial Budget 2024 | Advocacy and Recommendations

The BCHA recently submitted its recommendations for the 2024 Provincial Buedget to the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services. As an active participant in the legislative process, the BCHA recognizes the importance of providing valuable insights and suggestions to shape the provincial budget. In addition to the recommendations included in the submitted report, the BCHA is diligently engaged in various high-priority advocacy efforts, such as our short-term rental advocacy file, through a highly strategic approach. We are committed to keeping our members informed about the progress and success of these endeavors, ensuring that their interests and concerns are effectively represented.

Success Stories | BCHA Workforce Programs Boost Hotels in Tofino and Uceleut

Last week, Alison Langford, the BCHA Workforce Strategist, visited Tofino and Uceleut to conduct on-site visits and check on hotels participating in our complimentary workforce programs, which involve hiring international workers. Notably, Pacific Sands, Long Beach Lodge and Black Rock Resort have experienced significant success in recruiting placements through the collaborative efforts facilitated by BCHA's memorandums of understanding with the Consulates of Barbados and El Salvador. We are thrilled to witness the positive outcomes of these programs and eagerly look forward to sharing the achievements of all establishments and the valuable contributions made by the workers who are enhancing our hotel sector. BCHA Announces Maternity Leave and Welcomes Anu Saini as Member Services Coordinator

We are delighted to announce that BCHA Member Services Coordinator, Vanda Fragoso, has embarked on a new and exciting journey as she begins her maternity leave. We extend our warmest wishes to Vanda and her growing family, and eagerly await her return! In the meantime, we are extremely fortunate to have Anu Saini stepping in as Vanda's replacement. Anu brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role, and we have full confidence in her ability to provide excellent support to our valued members. HAC Shares Workforce Growth Strategy
