Forward Together | Key Insights Shared at Labour Market Forum with Tourism HR Canada
Industry leaders across the country, including representatives from BCHA, recently met to share their insights on the next steps for tourism’s recovery and growth. Tourism HR Canada hosted nearly 100 tourism stakeholders—from businesses to associations, education to government—at its annual Labour Market Forum. See below for key insights and learnings from the session.
Government Introduces New EV Chargers to Support Green Travel
People making the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) will have more access to electric charging with 44 new charging stations in communities and municipalities throughout B.C.

The charging stations are funded under the seventh round of the CleanBC Go Electric Public Charger Program, which aims to increase the number of public direct-current fast-charger (DCFC) stations throughout B.C. to support the growing number of EVs on the road. Thirty-nine of the new charging stations are DCFC stations, while five of them are Level 2 charging stations.
Help Shape Certification for
Accommodations Professionals
Tourism HR Canada is looking for Directors of Housekeeping and Hotel General Managers to participate in industry consultations to update the nationally recognized Emerit certification programs for these two occupations.

Preparing for Flooding Season
As rain eventually returns to BC, the Government of BC is helping communities prepare for flooding, allocating resources to support in the event of emergencies. Learn more about what The Government of BC is doing to help communities prepare for flooding. Destination BC has developed step-by-step guides, templates and tools outlining how tourism businesses can prepare their staff for a fast and effective response during a flood.
