SUPPORTING POSITIVE SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SKILLS
Early Intervention and
Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health;
An Integrated Approach

As we approach July, we are all busy putting on the final touches for the CCSS Conference in Roanoke. We cannot wait to welcome you and engage in dialogue about many, and varied topics related to the development of young children.
One of the topics offered during our pre-conference is a session highlighting the benefits of integrating Early Intervention and Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health practices. The current research, and best practice guidelines align these two very dynamic fields to support best outcomes for children and families. As the fields become more deeply intertwined it is critical that we approach our daily engagements with children and families being mindful of our reflective stance within our practice. Using a framework for intentional reflection in our work with children and families allows us to deepen our understanding of the child and families’ needs, while strengthening our approach, strategies, and goals for the child. As you consider your knowledge and use of reflection in your work, consider using this tool as a helpful starting point, or as a refresher depending on your career trajectory. http://eccdc.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/a_thinking_lens_bilingual.pdf

We look forward to seeing all of you in Roanoke!
