TRAC-IT Update: June 2022

We made it! June 2022 is here! We can now count down in days instead of weeks or months to the June 27th launch of TRAC-IT!

As a reminder, TRAC-IT trainings have been scheduled. You’ll find the dates and registration links for all upcoming trainings on our website calendar.

  • All users are encouraged to register for and attend one of the Overview of TRAC-IT sessions offered during the week of June 6-10. (The content of these sessions will be repeated; you’ll only need to attend one of the overview sessions. And at least one overview session will be recorded and available online for those unable to participate.)
  • Users are also encouraged to register for and attend one or more of the targeted training sessions being offered specifically for administrators, service providers, service coordinators, and fiscal.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT) was compressed from two weeks to one and ended on May 27th with only a handful of required modifications. SSG will be working on correcting the issues identified, and state staff will re-run the test scripts to verify resolution.

Be sure to visit (and bookmark) the TRAC-IT info page on the ITCVA website. Here you’ll find updates and resources related to TRAC-IT preparation and implementation.

We understand and appreciate that many people are contributing a great deal of time and expertise to bringing this years-long dream to reality. Thank you for your efforts! The light at the end of the tunnel is in sight!
Important EI Certification News
In preparation for the transition from ITOTS to TRAC-IT, it will be important to plan ahead if you need to apply for recertification or are hiring someone who is applying for initial certification.
  • The last day to apply for EI certification or recertification in ITOTS will be June 10th.
  • After that, you will need to wait and apply for certification or recertification in TRAC-IT beginning June 27.
  • Certification and recertification applications submitted in TRAC-IT on or before July 15, that then are approved/granted, automatically will have a certification date of June 11, 2022.
EI Certification Certificates
As access to ITOTs comes to an end, please be sure you have a copy of your current and previous certificates for EI Specialist, EI Professional and EI Case Management. Various audits including Medicaid may ask for proof of certification for past time periods.
SUPPORTING POSITIVE SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SKILLS
As practitioners supporting children and families, we are closing out the month with an immense sense of grief and loss due to the incident in Uvalde. As professionals, we have been impacted in various ways by this event, and so have the families we are serving. Grief and loss is a significant part of life for every family, but is often a difficult area to approach for many professionals because many are not comfortable with the topic, or feel as though they may not have the resources to support families through the grief/loss process.
It is critical that we familiarize ourselves with both strategies and resources to support families during the grieving process due to the implications that the grief and loss process of the child and family can have on the nature of the child’s overall growth and development. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us to work with each family within the context of Donald Winnicott’s framework, “there is no such thing as a baby, there is a baby and someone.” This reinforces our understanding as practitioners, that the relationship between the family and child are sacred and inseparable in nature. What the family experiences the child will experience as well. Helping families with challenges that they are facing with grief and loss will support the whole family and child in reaching positive outcomes in all the learning domains social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Below you can find additional resources for helping families:
