UPDATE
November 2021
Name! That! Data System!

Can you believe it? It's almost time to bid ta-ta to ITOTS!

After countless fits and starts, Virginia is on the verge of implementing a new statewide data system for its Part C early intervention system!
As you may know, this new data system will replace the existing Infant & Toddler Online Tracking System (affectionately known as "ITOTS") and offer a host of features that one could only dream of a few short years ago. The new data system promises to make providing, documenting and billing for early intervention services easier and more efficient than ever.

Given that the "new ITOTS" will be so radically different from the old, many believe a new name is in order....
If you agree: Share your most creative and catchy suggestions with us!

The name you've suggested might be spoken by hundreds (if not thousands!) of people every day for years to come. Talk about a legacy!

A Time for Fellowship and Team Building
The Easterseals UCP of NC & VA Early Intervention Team celebrates their first in-person gathering since COVID!

“It was so nice to finally see each other face-to-face (while social distancing of course) to get creative, leave our computers and work cell phones at home and just reflect on the past couple of years and what we have been dealing with during COVID. We had two team members who had not ever met the rest of the group (in person) because they were hired virtually. It was just a fun time of fellowship and a great stress reliever after we survived transition time in EI!” – Emily Amerson

For team building and fall fun, everyone received a crafting kit with all of the supplies they needed, glue guns, paint, brushes and music! The team decorated their hand prints to hang a mural on the wall of their office. The hand prints will be made into the shape of a tree and the team is coming up with quotes to be included in the frame.

The Easterseals team provides service coordination, developmental services, and participates in assessments for service planning in the Roanoke Valley ITC region and also helps with the intake and initial ASP process in Central VA ITC Region.
SUPPORTING POSITIVE SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SKILLS

As we wrap-up work on our current SSIP and finalize the new plan, there’s a lot happening. Here are a few highlights:
  • A new Child Outcome Summary Fidelity Checklist
  • Work continues on the new statewide data system
  • State Leadership Team for the new SSIP convenes in November

This year as parents, grandparents, and community members’ we are still navigating how to keep our children well. We have put in place many safety protocols, routines, and continuous dialogue with one another related to how to remain safe in uncertain times. Although we are awaiting the Emergency Use Authorization on a Vaccine for our children, the roll out is pending. As we await the Vaccine how do we balance children’s mental health as it applies to engagement in the community via events, sports, and holiday’s with the safety protocols we feel necessary?
