I've got an informational overload for you this month! While we had to cancel our in-person annual meeting due to SE WI's winter storm last month, we have a virtual meeting in the works. Read on to find out more on how we're leaning into 2023 and about how we are working to maintain waterfowler's relevancy in a changing world.
Plus, check out your chance to win a fishing trip vacation on Lake Gogebic or a Typhoon Defense F12 that our Valley Chapter is raffling off on the 24th at their 38th Annual banquet. And check out the rest of our class A raffles here.
I hope you enjoy our February edition...

Information Overload
By Bruce Ross, Executive Director

|
I’m more than a little disappointed that January 28th's winter storm warnings forced the cancellation of our annual meeting. It's my annual opportunity to highlight WWA’s accomplishments (many), review financial results (very solid), recognize volunteer excellence (pretty remarkable), and look to the coming year (very exciting). So we’re rescheduling in a virtual format in March.

Buy Low, Give High. Give Stock.
For a bigger tax break, give appreciated stock. You will receive a charitable deduction based on the fair market value on the date the stock is transferred to us, and you’ll completely avoid capital gains tax. Make sure not to sell the stock first! It should be a direct transfer.
Give smart, give stock, and help WWA!

Of Waterfowl Hunters & Packer Fans
Recently, the WDNR Migratory Committee supported moving to a five year cycle in setting waterfowl seasons, with the goal of improved consistency for hunters, hunter planning, alignment to zone setting cycles and reducing staff workload. The decision makes good sense and the conversation made me realize waterfowl hunters are similar to Packer fans.
