Information, Input and Networking Session for Trust Youth Development Grants on July 6
|
|
Do you provide high-quality after-school programming and/or summer camp for children and youth? Do you offer enrichment components such as STEM, arts, fitness, sports activities offered within after-school and summer camps? If you answered yes to either of these, we encourage you to join us for our Youth Development Information, Input and Networking Session on July 6. This session will provide information on program requirements, gather your input and create a space for networking and connection. Coming in October, The Children’s Trust will be looking for applicants for a new 5-year funding cycle that will start in August 2023. Volunteers Needed for The Trust’s Family Expo Series
|

The Children’s Trust is looking for volunteers for the 2022 Family Expo series in late July and early August. The Expo is the largest family resources exposition in Miami-Dade County bringing resources, information and provider agencies to the communities that most need them. This year the Family Expo will take place at three separate events in South, Central and North locations. Volunteers will be needed for different roles at each event. The COVID-19 Mental Health and Wellness Program II© (CMHWPII) is in its second iteration to serve the Miami-Dade community. COVID-19 continues to impact our lives and the CMHWPII is designed to survey and provide resources to those in need of information and services on their “Path to Wellness.” The program exists to assist Miami-Dade County’s essential workers and residents with navigating the myriad of challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic – focusing on the broad spectrum of mental health-related issues commonly associated with disasters and pandemics.
CMHWPII services include:
- Access to a FREE Mental Health & Wellness Survey with a Real-time Scorecard
- A culturally and linguistically sensitive program available in Creole, English, and Spanish

The Trust has a new date for the Fiscal Processes and Policy Sessions. The sessions will now be held on Friday, June 24. We will take a deeper dive into the long-term items discussed at our last provider meeting.
Who should attend: The individual(s) at your agency who make fiscal decisions and create your fiscal documents (budget, amendments, invoices).

NEW Introduction to Project-Based Learning Course on Trust Academy *
|
|
In this new course, accessible through the Trust Academy Course Catalog, participants learn how Project-Based Learning (PBL) can be used to engage youth by connecting them with real-world experiences, motivating them to solve problems in their communities, and exposing youth to a wide range of career options. When Youth Development staff support & guide youth through PBL, their youth participants will have more opportunities to use creativity, learn meaningful skills, practice problem solving, and become leaders.

Understanding The Children’s Trust Guidelines for Including Children with Disabilities - Did you know that to address the needs of children and youth with disabilities, there are options for modifying outcome measures? Discover what is meant by accommodation, modification, alternate assessment, and alternate outcomes. Learn when they are appropriate for program participants, and how to request permission to use them.
Discovering Inclusion - The foundation for all other trainings, an online introduction to children and youth with disabilities. Includes the benefits and characteristics of an inclusive program, and provides practical common-sense information on using respectful language and etiquette.
Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Part 1
You hear a lot about it, but do you really know what Autism Spectrum Disorder is, and the different ways it appears in different children and youth? Learn the facts, and how to recognize and accommodate those with sensory sensitivities, foster social competence, address bullying, and ensure a safe environment.

Teach youth and families about mental wellness with a FREE program "Ending the Silence" (ETS) presented by the National Alliance on Mental Illness Miami-Dade County. Safe in the 305 Grants Available to Revitalize Communities and Promote Peace
|
The Miami-Dade County Office of Neighborhood Safety is offering Safe in the 305 grants from $500 to $1,500 to encourage residents and community stakeholders to promote peace and prosperity, by funding community-driven actions that make their own neighborhoods safer. Applications should organize efforts to revitalize or beautify neighborhoods, or support community interconnection and engagement through
neighborhood projects that address blight. The application deadline is July 6.

As part of Pride Month, the Children's Bereavement Center (CBC) is providing a free training and conversation on how grief can manifest in the LGBTQ+ community. Join CBC's Clinical Director Dr. Daniel Sheridan to discuss disenfranchised grief, specific considerations for grief among LGBTQ+ individuals, how to support a grieving individual who is part of the LGBTQ+ community, and much more. Pass Along WIC Updates on Baby Formula, Breastfeeding Help and Increased Payments
|
The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program continues providing thousands of families supplemental food, nutrition services and breastfeeding support but many families who qualify for WIC are not on WIC for a variety of reasons. Please help those you serve by passing along information on WIC updates specifically relating to pregnant women, breastfeeding/postpartum women, infants and children up to the age of 5.
Among the changes are:
- Florida WIC has implemented new flexibilities for formula and medical foods. Providers will also have flexibilities on formula selection for their clients receiving WIC formulas.
- The WIC Breastfeeding Helpline (786.336.1336) is available to provide breastfeeding support to families on the WIC program including free consultation.
- Families receiving WIC benefits will continue receiving a temporary increase in cash voucher for fruits and vegetables (fresh, organic, canned or frozen), amounts vary by client from $24 to $47 per eligible client, per month.

Foster Parent Training on Zoom from National Youth Advocate Program

The National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) in Miami is recruiting and is in great need of foster parents for its Miami program. The NYAP has foster parent training class starting in June via zoom. - Information and data technology budgeting

The Children's Trust’s Information Technology (IT) team is responsible to implement strategically aligned solutions to increase the use of information to support decision-making to meet financial, strategic, and operational goals. The IT team supports all departments throughout The Trust, and its community networks and provider partnerships. The IT Manager's role is to collaborate and engage with systems and report developers throughout the development cycle to ensure that user requirements are met. Testing is a vital part of the development lifecycle and is critical to meeting user requirements and delivering quality solutions in a cost-effective and efficient manner. The Children’s Trust ecosystem provides support for staff to work with full functionality whether onsite or remote. The IT Manager implements the security measures in alignment with cybersecurity strategy and coordinates risk mitigation activities. The IT Manager serves as the contract manager for IT contracts. This role requires exceptional communication, coordination, and organizational problem-solving skills.

The Program Manager position manages the full life cycle of assigned funded program(s) and services located throughout Miami-Dade County. This position requires occasional non-traditional work hours (weekends and evenings) and reliable transportation. Lead Program Officer *
Advancing the organization’s vision, goals and program models, the Lead Program Officer oversees, coaches, and supports Breakthrough Miami’s site directors, who are embedded on multiple sites across Miami. Working collaboratively with program leadership, the Lead Program Officer helps inform and develop program implementation strategies to support site teams in achieving program goals, outcomes, and impact. The Assistant Site Director (ASD) is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services that most directly affect Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars.
