Subject: Safer at Home Update for the Village of Maple Bluff

Dear Residents,

Please see below for the most recent Village of Maple Bluff updates. If your neighbors do not yet receive our notifications, please let them know they can sign up by emailing [email protected] or by calling (608) 244-3048.

April 7th Election Will Go On As Planned - Today Governor Evers issued Executive Order #74 suspending in-person voting for tomorrow’s election. Immediately following the issuance of that order, Republicans filed an appeal with the Supreme Court. At 5:00pm today, the Supreme Court blocked the governor's order . Polls will be open from 7:00am-8:00pm. The village has implemented strict social distancing measures for Election Day. Please exercise patience if you come out to vote tomorrow.

Safer at Home Non-Compliance Reporting  - A number of residents have expressed frustration and confusion regarding the Stay at Home order after seeing instances of non-compliance. We continue our efforts to educate and incentivize self-compliance but are aware that some may choose not to adhere to the guidelines. Individuals and business that have been given an opportunity to come into compliance with Stay at Home and instead choose to violate the order, may be subject to law enforcement action; but we work closely with county health officials to make those determinations.

Reporting non-compliance is done through Public Health of Madison & Dane County (PHMDC). I encourage everyone to report compliance and social distancing violations by emailing [email protected] . Our Police Department will coordinate with PHMDC to ensure non-compliance issues are addressed appropriately.

Animal Etiquette - Please be courteous to your neighbors and the community while we adhere to Safer at Home. A number of residents have raised concerns of uncontrolled off-leash animals as well as waste left in private yards and public areas. Our ordinances allow for off-leash animals as long as they are under the control of their owner at all times, but concerns for pet transmission of COVID-19 make many uneasy; and abandoned animal waste is un-neighborly. Please be cognizant of your animal while enjoying the beautiful weather in our community. Thank you for your understanding!

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We are here to serve this great community and appreciate your support.

Sincerely,

Tanner A. Nystrom
