Centennial Academic Achievements
SAT Scores
Centennial is a Top 25 School in Georgia with an average SAT score of 1600!
Centennial's SAT scores are up 23 points this year - the highest number of increased points of any school in our learning community.  We are one of only 4 Fulton County Schools to boast a 2-year trend of increased performance scores and only one of 2 schools to boast DOUBLE DIGIT GAINS 2 years in a row!  Centennial also had one of the 4 FCS graduating seniors with a perfect SAT score of 2400.
Our faculty has worked hard to raise the level of personal attention given to all students in order to ensure that our students have the opportunity to excel and succeed. Congratulations on this incredible accomplishment!
AP Scores
Shout out to Centennial from interim Superintendent Ken Zeff.  At the 8/18/15 School Board Community meeting, Ken Zeff recognized Centennial to the crowd for its AP Test performance over the past 5 years.  Mr. Zeff said that not only had Centennial increased AP Test participation by 25% over that time period, but Centennial has raised its pass rate by 35%!!!  That is so amazing.  Thank you to our teachers, students, administration, and parents for continuing to raise the bar for ALL STUDENTS.  Go Knights!!

Congratulations to Dr. Shih and the 2014-2015 AP Calculus BC Class!
All students in last year's AP Calculus BC class received scores of 5 on their AP exam.  5 is the highest score that can be achieved on an AP exam.  Congratulations to Dr. Shih and the students for such a phenomenal achievement.  Go Knights!!

SAT and ACT Test Prep Opportunities

Fall Mock ACT, SAT and New SAT Tests
These Mock tests are sponsored by the Centennial PTSA and presented by Applerouth.  They are held at Centennial and the cost is $5.  Mock tests are a great way to see which test is the right one for a student to pursue.

1 : 1 Technology Personalized Learning
As part of the first group working on this initiative, Centennial and Alpharetta High Schools will be the first Fulton County high schools receiving devices for all of its students.  The specific device has yet to be chosen by each school.  However, the schedule currently is for devices to be distributed to students in January 2016.   Much training for teachers has gone into this initiative to make it as successful as possible.  We also want our students to be good digital citizens.  Dr. Glymph, Centennial Assistant Principal, shared the following presentation with parents at curriculum night.  If you were not there, please take the time to review it

Juniors should be taking advantage of this opportunity to learn as much about the colleges that interest them.
The college reps that come are often the people that will look over your application when you apply - reps like to see that you are interested in their school.  Come to the visits, introduce yourself, and ask thoughtful questions.  Go here to see the latest list of colleges coming to Centennial . Students go to the Counseling Office to sign up for College Visits.

Centennial School Governance Council (SGC)
Centennial's SGC has met twice so far this school year, electing new officers and committee chairs for the year and discussing possible Requests For Flexibility (RFF). In late August, we submitted one concept to the county for early consideration. This RFF concept would allow students to receive high school credit for a required general health class offered in middle school.  This would free up another half credit (one semester) in high school by allowing students to take their high school Health requirement in middle school.
The SGC generally meets monthly on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 am in the Learning Commons conference room. However, due to county RFF submission deadlines, our next meeting will be on September 17 at 7:30 am in the same location. Every meeting of the SGC is open to the public and all are welcome to attend. There are two 2-minutes spots available to address the council, as well. Please sign up for these in advance by contacting the SGC chair, Caroline Truax.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact anyone on the council. A complete list of current members and scheduled meetings can be found on the SGC pages of the school's website.

Accident  Avoidance  Workshops
Driver trainin' the way it ought'a be!
This is not driver's education ... this is driver's preparation.  One doesn't become proficient at Lacrosse by taking a 30-hour classroom, watching videos, taking an on-line class, getting in to a simulator, or reading books ... they become proficient at Lacrosse by playing Lacrosse!  Nobody expects their child to know how to react in Emergency Driving Conditions if they've never practiced Emergency Driving Conditions... and yet, how many parents send their kids on to Atlanta roads, completely unprepared for Emergency Driving Conditions, knowing full-well they didn't get that training in "driver's ed"?  Enter the Accident Avoidance Workshops.  We teach your student how to handle emergencies, by exposing them to emergencies ... there is no better way ... period.
The Workshops are comi ng back to Centennial High School this October and spaces will go fast. Don't delay, sign up today.  Click here for more information and for a complete schedule, or call 770-262-7009.  If you are ready to register you may click here.

Remember to Use your Publix Scan Cards!

Do you know that the CHS PTSA has received over $14,000 from Publix over the years?!  That is a lot of money - and it takes no effort at all.  Just use your scan card every time that you make a purchase at Publix.  If you do not have a scan card, you can get one at the front desk.  They are available throughout the school year.  You or your student can pick up extra cards for grandparents, friends and neighbors to use.  Everyone buys groceries, and having these cards scanned when you shop at Publix is an easy way to help CHS PTSA!

Connect your Target Card to Centennial!
Make sure that you link Centennial to your Target Credit Cards.  Last year, Centennial received $1279.37 from Target!
Target REDCard sends 1% of purchases to our school and saves you 5% at Target stores every time you shop - another win-win!
