Information about Registering for Parent Focus Group

Dear T/E Parents,

Here in T/E, we have the privilege every day of working with some of the best kids we could ever hope to know. We recognize that, as parents, you put your trust in us to take the best possible care of them. We care deeply about the well-being of every child in our schools.  It is a responsibility we carry in our heads and hearts at all times.

In recent days and weeks, we have listened to many ideas on how to make our schools even safer. While the policies and practices we have in place support safe learning environments, we always look for ways to become better. We are very fortunate to work with a supportive group of parents, who have shared thoughtful recommendations to strengthen our policies regarding responses to reported threats. Toward this goal, we are offering several focus group sessions to allow further opportunity for purposeful discussion.

The subject of the focus groups will be narrowed to school actions and responses to threatening behaviors or statements by students. We will be looking for feedback on our current practices as well as some ideas for improvements. Individuals will be asked to respond to specific questions during the sessions. At the same time, and continuing this summer, the District will reach out to expert authorities on school safety to conduct additional research.

The information gathered from the focus groups and expert authorities will be used when considering potential policy enhancements to threat response protocols. We will share what we learn with the School Board Policy Committee.

Beginning at 9:00 am on Tuesday, May 29 , 2018, parents will be able to sign up for the following sessions:
  • Session 1: June 7, 2018 at 6:00 pm
  • Session 2: June 7, 2018 at 7:30 pm
  • Session 3: June 12, 2018 at 6:00 pm
  • Session 4: June 12, 2018 at 7:30 pm
T/E parents may visit the TESD website at www.tesd.net  to register for a session. All meetings will be held at the T/E Administration Offices. The deadline to register is 3:00 pm on Friday, June 1, 2018. The focus groups are open to Tredyffrin and Easttown parents and guardians only. T/E School District parents who wish to provide feedback on possible enhancements to District policies and procedures outside of a focus group may send an email to parentfocusgroup@tesd.net.

It has been our experience that collaboration between T/E parents and T/E school staff often results in some of the best ideas to benefit our students. We are looking forward to the opportunity for productive dialogue.

Sincerely,

Richard Gusick
Superintendent of Schools

As a result of registering 85% of eligible voters, Conestoga High School earned the Governor's Civic Engagement Award with Gold Level Award distinction.
