INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES - JULY 2020
ENSEMBLE MESSAGE FOR FAMILIES
Hello families!

Well we are officially into the heat of summer and into our 4th month of quarantine and I hope you are all doing well as we continue to navigate this new reality that has impacted all of us. However, as families of those with intellectual disabilities we know that this population has been particularly impacted. As individuals and families we are now dealing with greater challenges and more restrictions. As I mentioned in the newsletter last month, what has not changed is the work Ensemble is doing to support families with a family member with an intellectual disability. We are still here for you to provide support, information and connections as we all navigate these extraordinary times. In addition to this newsletter, please continue to check our social media channels and the Ensemble website for information.

Stay well and hopefully we will be able to connect again soon in person.

Parent Consultant, Ensemble
ENSEMBLE EVENT FOR AUGUST 26TH HAS BEEN CANCELLED
The Ensemble Advisory Committee had planned four events for 2020 for parents, siblings and caregivers to come out and connect with others' caring for someone with an intellectual disability, and unfortunately we have had to cancel our first two events, due to inclement weather and then COVID-19. We had hoped to be finally able to gather for our scheduled event for August 26th, but unfortunately we will have to go ahead and cancel this event as well due to the ongoing restrictions. We do hope that we can get together for the last planned event for 2020 in November, but will make that decision as we get closer to the date.

VITAL SIGNS SURVEY
Family Respite Services posted this last week on Facebook of the importance of our community filling out the Vital Signs Survey and I thought it was important to pass it along to Ensemble Families as well.

"After reading the Vital Signs report year after year and seeing the gaps in our community from the survey results, we knew Family Respite Services (FRS) needed to get involved as a support sponsor. Our vision at FRS is a community where families are strong and ALL children belong so our vision aligns with the measures of quality of life across our community specifically around a few issue areas: c hildren with disabilities belonging, leadership, getting started, health, wellness and activity and of course learning. It’s pertinent that we have result driven directives so that Family Respite Services can respond to the need in our community strategically and based on the Vital Sign Survey Results."
