Freshman Orientation
Thursday, August 22, 2019
8:10am - 1:31pm

Freshman Orientation, on Thursday, August 22, 2019, is the first official day of school for all freshmen.

Freshman Orientation is a unique opportunity for the Class of 2023 to get to know your high school without the crowds. Here’s a brief look at what you’ll experience on that day.

  • Be sure to print your class schedule from PowerSchool and bring it with you. Dress comfortably!

  • Allow time to store purses, backpacks, or other belongings in your locker before you report to the Lower Commons near the Competition Gym by 8:10am. You’ll break into large and small groups for a variety of activities with student mentors.

  • We will provide light snacks. If you decide to bring your own, please make sure that your snack is nut-free and refrain from sharing your food with others, due to allergy sensitivities.

  • At 11:50am, you’ll begin to follow your individual class schedule beginning with Period 1. The plan for the day is to follow a shortened schedule with each period lasting only 7 minutes. There will be a 5 minute passing time between classes.  Period 8, the last period of the day, will end at 1:31pm. Please see below for details on the class schedule.

  • Your day will be over at 1:31pm. Buses will arrive in front of the school at 1:45pm for students who have signed up for bus service. (We anticipate that bus route information will be available on August 14, and will be posted on the Transportation page of the website.)

  • The regular school year will begin for all students at 8:15am and end at 3:20pm on Friday, August 23rd. The week of August 26 is the first full week of school.
