Talking Is Teaching

"Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing" seeks to help parents understand that they have the power to boost their children's vocabulary through simple actions every day.

Studies show children whose parents are involved in their education do better in school, and this Parent Toolkit was created to provide you with useful tips and tools to support your growing child at all ages. 

Reading Tips for Parents in 11 Languages

A child's success as a reader begins much earlier than the first day of school. Reading, and a love for reading, begins at home. These one-page Parent Tips offer easy ways for parents to help kids become successful readers.

Languages include Spanish, Arabic, Traditional Chinese, Haitian Creole, Hmong, Korean, Navajo, Russian, Tagalog and Vietnamese.

 

READING TIP OF THE MONTH

Stop to look at pictures. Ask the child to name things he or she sees. Talk about how the pictures relate to the story.
