Parents and other caring adults have the incredible opportunity to build a strong foundation for learning and healthy development before a child enters school - even from the time a child is born. Here are some resources to help you make the most of this important time with your children.

Join us for one of these special 

Reading Buddies events! 

  • The cast from the Erie Playhouse Youtheatre Production of Disney's Peter Pan will do activities with the kids.
  • Parents and other caring adults will participate in activities to help them read with their children.
  • Everyone will come together at the end for a performance of a song from Peter Pan. 
  • All participating families will receive up to 4 free tickets to see the play! 
  • Free lunch provided.

Reach Out and Read

From choosing a book for a 6-month-old to tips on reading, Reach Out and Read offers resources to parents and guardians as well as pediatricians to help ensure that every child begins kindergarten ready to learn!


Asking "What do you think will happen next?" is a good way to get back to reading the story if the discussion strays off for too long.
