In partnership with The Daily News, the Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce is providing this article to help you make an informed decision during the November 3 Election. We encourage you to vote. District 13 Congressional Candidates Dr. John Joyce (R) and Todd Rowley (D) were asked to limit their responses to 250 words each. No changes have been made to their responses.

 Ballots can be dropped of at the Bailey Building, 233 Penn Street, Huntingdon, during business hours. Only the ballot holder can drop the ballot off with valid ID.

Town Hall: America's Energy Future

Tomorrow, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy Steven Winberg will join Marcellus Shale Coalition President David Spigelmyer for a Town Hall meeting on American Energy. The conversation will cover a wide range of topics including: our nation’s energy dominance and the ability to drive job growth through our abundance and affordability of natural gas; renewable energy sources and the role of renewables in meeting America’s energy needs; and plastics and chemical development, electric vehicles, advanced manufacturing opportunities and America’s energy future.  The event will take place at 9 a.m. on Friday, October 30. Those interested in viewing the town hall can do so here.
Small BIZ Advantage Grant

Grant funding for energy efficiency and pollution prevention projects for small business owners and farmers is still available from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) through the Small Business Advantage Grant program.

PA Schools Health & Safety Grants Available Soon

Local schools will be able to apply soon for additional grant funding to protect the health and safety of students, teachers and school employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. The grants were approved as part of the $200 million COVID-19 Disaster Emergency School Health and Safety Grant program created by lawmakers in May as part of Act 30 of 2020.

Eligible uses of the funding include:
  • The purchase of cleaning and sanitizing products.
  • Training and professional development of staff on sanitation and infection prevention.
  • Equipment purchases.
  • Modifying school facilities to support appropriate social distancing of students and staff.
  • Mental health services and supports.
  • Educational technology for distance learning.
  • Other health and safety programs, items or services

The grant program is expected to open no later than Monday, November 2. Grant applications can be submitted on the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s Egrants website.
